Recognising the best Toilets in Education
There are some educational establishments that take great pride in their school toilets and enter them into the Loo of the Year Awards, the UK's annual Awards scheme to reward the very best 'away from home' toilets. For 2010 LOYA has introduced National Toilets in Education Awards to recognise the best entries from the Education sector.
There are sections for Early Years, Primary Schools and Play Centres, Secondary Schools, Higher & Adult Education and Special Schools.
The entrant’s toilet facilities must be fit for pupils/students in the entry category. In addition to the existing male, female and accessible toilet criteria, judging will be based on criteria that include facilities, design, cleaning and maintenance required to meet this sectors special needs. Entrants awarded 3*, 4* or 5* awards will receive a certificate and the very best will be considered for a range of National Awards.
Loo of the Year Awards have been encouraging improvements in toilet standards for 23 years.
